LEAP Academy High School
Camden, NJ
This This new $10.5 million Dollar facility complements
the LEAP Academy University Charter School, also located
on Cooper Street, which opened its doors on September 15,
1997 with a total enrollment of 324 students in grades Pre-K
– 9th. By September of 2002 the LEAP Academy enrollment
grew to 432 students in grades K-7th and expanded to include
10th grade.
In order to meet critical time schedules and a fixed budget,
the design / build concept was adopted for this project.
Additionally, the facility could be designed utilizing various
alternative quality products which allowed for value engineering
to naturally take place simultaneously with the design process.
The building features modern science labs, a lecture hall
with long-distance videoconferencing capacity, a roomy kitchen,
a spacious nurse’s office, a greenhouse, a gym, a store
with collegiate-style merchandise and sweeping views from
picture windows overlooking Cooper Street.
